What's Happening

Winter Weather Mass Cancellation Policy

 Spencer Sacred Heart:

  • There will be Mass (Weekend and daily) unless the maintenance department determines the parking lot and sidewalks are unsafe for people to navigate. This will also be the case if there is a late start or no school due to the weather.

 St. Joseph O'Brien County:

  • There will not be a weekday Mass if the local school district calls for a late start or no school due to the weather.
  • Weekend Masses will be decided based on weather, travel conditions and the condition of the parking lots and sidewalks.Fr. Hogan will consult with others to gather all information before making a decision.

Please use your own good judgement as to whether it is safe or not to attend Mass.  Even if there is Mass, it may not be safe for you to drive or walk in questionable conditions.

Please consult KICD or KIWA radio or their websites to find out if a Mass is canceled. We will also get the word out through email or social media.

Knights of Columbus Omelet Breakfast will be held on Sunday January 26, 2019 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the Catholic Schools Week kickoff. Please join us in supporting Sacred Heart Schools for a free will donation and great omelets!

Sacred Grapes & Grounds: Sacred Grounds is taking on a new look for 2019-2020. We will be adding fellowship in the gathering space after Saturday’s 4:00p.m. Mass, starting about 4:45p.m. and after Sunday’s 10:30a.m. Mass, starting about 11:30a.m.

To sign-up to host, click here! Most, if not all, the dates are the first weekend of each month between October-April. Please see below for the fellowship schedule. We will provide wine, beer, and water with light snacks on Saturday evenings. On Sunday mornings, we will provide coffee, juice, and a sweet. The host couple/family/group will be responsible for putting these items out and cleaning up after each fellowship gathering. The host couple/family/group is responsible for hosting Sacred Grounds. Should we not have volunteers, the gathering for that day will be cancelled. Groups that may be interested in hosting include: Families, Teachers/Staff, Archery Club, Math Bee Students, Knights of Columbus, CDA Members, Funeral Circle Members, Faith Formation Classes & Catechists, Choirs, Liturgical Roles (Ushers, Greeters), etc.

Hosting involves: putting out beverages (wine/beer), making coffee and juice; setting out the snacks/sweets; greeting parishioners who attend Sacred Grapes & Grounds; and light clean-up. You should plan to arrive at 3:30p.m. for Saturday set-up and 10:00a.m. for Sunday set-up. In the past, Sacred Grapes & Grounds lasted about an hour, however, with the new Mass times we will be playing things by ear this year.
